This snare is made from 65 year old Cherry Wood I used from a table that used to belong to my mother. Cherry wood (specifically American Black Cherry) is a premium, domestic hardwood celebrated for its smooth, straight grain, incredible workability, and rich aging process. Frequently used for musical instruments, woodturning, and high-end kitchenware. It is commonly used as a premium alternative to mahogany in stringed instruments, percussion, and wind instruments. Snare drums crafted from cherry wood are celebrated for their warm, articulate and punchy tone. This dense hardwood falls between maple and walnut in the tonal spectrum, delivering a focused sound with excellent sensitivity, making it highly versatile for both studio recording and live performances.
