14 x 6.5 x 1/2" Wenge with Maple

This 14 x 6.5 x 1/2" snare is made from mostly Wenge with 3 staves of Maple evenly divided around the shell. Usually pronounced WHEN-gii or WHEN-ghay, this incredibly popular African hardwood has excellent strength and hardness properties, though it’s much more frequently used for its rich dark brown color.  Common uses, Veneer, paneling, furniture, turned objects, and musical instruments.  This snare has a deep snare bed cut into it which produces a highly articulate, "snappy" sound at low-to-medium volumes. They are known for having less unwanted sympathy buzz from other drums.  This snare has Puresound Custom Pro Steel (20-Strand) snare wires made for deep snare beds.  The best all-rounder. These feature proprietary "Anti-Choke" end-plates with curved corners, ensuring the wires don't choke out when tensioned on a deep bed.
