14 x 5.25 x 7/8" 70 year old Poplar

This handmade stave snare drum is made from 70 year old Poplar. The grain in the poplar is very unique. The sound is incredible. Snare is 14"x5.25"x7/8".  The age of this poplar really makes it unique and stand out.  The thickness of the shell, 7/8" makes it seem heavier than a normal poplar shell would and makes the snare really pop!!  Snare wires are 42 strand which creates a highly sensitive, "wet" sound with rich, sustained buzz and excellent articulation even at very low playing dynamics. It is ideal for ghost notes and complex roll work.
