Honduran mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla)—often referred to as genuine, big-leaf, or American mahogany is the classic benchmark for fine woodworking, valued for its rich coloration, exceptional dimensional stability, and flawless workability.  Because of its superior stability, it has been the premier timber for centuries. Primary applications include fine furniture and cabinetry, acoustic and electric musical instruments (necks, bodies, and bracework) and boatbuilding (planking and trim).
